Beetle Art is now at CNC Prince George

The Red & Blue Beetleart display is now up at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George.

It was a feature art exhibit at the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) annual conference on May 25. Nearly 800 delegates came to the conference and between 100 and 150 people viewed the exhibit.
Many of the delegates were from Ontario, and were astonished at the extent of the impact of the beetles on the forest.

The display will be open to public viewing in the CNC Library from Tuesday, May 27 to Tuesday, June 10.

Feedback from Smithers

sorry I forgot to add this earlier...

  • There’s positive and negative attributes, maybe not just focus on the negative
  • If you dwell too much on the dark or red, you do not reach out for the light
  • I found it very friendly and enjoyable
  • I like how art can make people think about important issues from a new perspective and we can learn visually
  • It’s amazing artwork
  • Hope for the future- nature will regenerate

Feedback comments from Mackenzie

Feedback comments from Mackenzie:

  • there is beauty, even in devastation
  • I am encouraged that there is still beauty seen, and still hope abounding despite the devastation
  • a true depiction of what has or is happening as a result of the pine beetle epidemic
  • wide range of media used with a wonderful understanding of the impact of the issue
  • people have embraced this and are making and creating awareness out of “Mother Nature”
  • not just a work of art, it reaches far beyond this
